Christian Gunter, a master's student from the East Carolina University, is studying sea level changes at Porkkala peninsula and their effects on the maritime cultural landscape over time. His thesis title is, “Shifting Shores and Hidden Harbors: Paleogeographic Reconstruction and Archaeological Prediction on the Porkkala Peninsula, Finland”. MAS's ontology research & establishing the Porkkala Wreck Park and the Maritime Archaeological Institute hosting it's first international field school in Porkala 2025 has signifficantly contributed to Christian's research. First reports and publications expected in 2026.
